Why an in-service on music therapy?

While many of us have seen and experienced the impact of music; whether in it’s ability increase motivation for studying or a workout, or how a familiar song can bring back memories for an older adult with dementia… across cultures and generations, music has a unique place for all individuals.

It’s important to know that the effects listed above are only a small glimpse of what music can do.

As the primary tool used in music therapy, music is broken down by trained therapists into different elements, studied, and then used in a specific manner to help clients achieve a diverse set of personal, non-musical goals. An in-service can provide details on how this is done, and how your organization can partner with Music Speaks to use music more effectively for those you serve.

If listening to music in everyday life is an “over-the-counter’ medication, music therapy is a prescription for a specific ailment. While both medications can be beneficial, only one is provided by a trained health professional.
