Music Therapist - Board Certified

Full-Time position located in Dixon/ Rockford, ILlinois

Location - Dixon and Rockford, Illinois and surrounding areas. 

Music Speaks works to balance the needs of under-served rural clients with fair driving distances for our therapists. 

Populations - This position will work in both group and 1:1 settings, primarily with children within a school setting with a variety of diagnoses. Potential to work 1:1 within client homes and with clients with various ID/DD diagnoses.

Hours/Benefits - This is a full-time, salaried position; Music Speaks defines full-time as 4 - 4.5 days in the field per week, plus office time.

Job Requirements -

  • Must have Board Certification (MT-BC) from the Certification Board of Music Therapy (CBMT) before working in the field.

Job Description -

Therapeutic Mindset:  

  • Regularly meet with a group of music therapists with a variety of clinical backgrounds to brainstorm creative and proactive strategies to strengthen client partnerships.

  • Benefit from frequent 1:1 connections with supervisors to receive feedback and work on critical thinking skills.

  • Individualized and group supervision allows for continuous, active practice and growth of clinical skills.

  • Use documentation that was created specifically for music therapy. Data collected informs future development and research.
